You're here for the beach, we know. So we're giving you nothing but balmy shores – the best Lanzarote has to offer, which happens to be a lot. The island's incredible volcanic geography and 213km of coastline means her beaches are both stunning and abundant. Here's the best of the bunch.

You'll want to get your head down, too – these are the best family hotels and resorts in Lanzarote.
Caletón Blanco

You’ll find this family-friendly playa off the main LZ-1 road, around half-an-hour's drive from the airport. The jarring contrast between its mellow yellow sands and the black volcanic rock overlaying the shore makes for an envy-making snap. We recommend stopping off here before catching a ferry from nearby Órzola to one of the smaller (and least explored) Canary Islands: La Graciosa.

Papagayo Beaches

Alright, we're cheating here – Papagayo actually consists of five clean and serene beaches, each a world away from Lanzarote’s resorts. Take your pick and pack the bucket and spade: Mujeres, El Pozo, Caleta del Congrio, Puerto Muelas or El Papagayo, all equally stunning and reachable via a scenic coastal footpath leading out from Los Colorados.

Flamingo Beach

As exotic as its name suggests, this playa’s situated at Lanzarote’s southern tip. Palm trees line a promenade above the vanilla-coloured sand, lapped by calm, turquoise waters. If you want to chill to the max, there are sunbeds to rent on the beach.

Famara Beach

You’ll first be struck (literally) by the strong winds at this popular beach, whose blustery conditions make it a choice spot for kite surfers and watersporters of all stripes. You’ll then notice how rangy its shores appear – clocking in at a whopping 8km (5 miles), Famara's the longest beach on the island.

Playa Grande

Puerto del Carmen’s most-frequented beach, Playa Grande’s capacious enough to accommodate its many visitors. Although there are many restaurants on the promenade, we recommend an alfresco picnic on its golden sands.
