Majorca’s popularity has soared over recent years, and rightly so – this Balearic island packs a lot in. From sailing and sunbathing to cycling some of the most famous routes in Europe or tasting local cuisine, Majorca is rich with its rewards.
A short break in Majorca could be based around the capital, Palma, with its soaring Gothic cathedral, vibrant squares and dozens of galleries. It’s a food lovers’ dream with colourful markets, tonnes of bars and restaurants to choose from, and dozens of local wineries to visit in the countryside nearby. In the north, the soaring peaks of Serra de Tramuntana keep cyclists and hikers happy for days, but if you’re just there for the view then stick to the coastal road. Factor in the sunshine – which you can enjoy from hundreds of beaches, or a sailing trip – and you’ll soon see why the island is one of the most celebrated holiday destinations in the Med.
