Paris Electric Car Hire

PARIS

In a bid to ease the city's traffic congestion, the world's first electric-car- hire scheme hit the French capital last month with a trial of 66 Bollore Bluecars. They'll be available to hire for as little as 30 minutes at a cost of about €5, depending on which subscription plan is taken out. The Autolib system will run like the successful Vélib bike-hire model, allowing users to pick up and drop off vehicles all over the city. Mayor Bertrand Delanoë hopes to bring the number of cars up to 3,000 by the end of next year.
