Book Ahead - Winter Run

EDINBURGH

If you know your Christmas calorie intake will be enough to comfortably feed a family then how about a fun way to get rid of those extra pounds while raising a few pounds for charity too? On 7 January, you could be pounding around Holyrood Park on the Great Winter Run on a 5km loop around the base of Arthur's Seat - the hill overlooking the city - earning yourself at least a mince pie. A decent pair of trainers is a must, because the course is over tarmac that - inevitably - will be covered in Edinburgh's finest white powder. greatrun.org
