  • August: One of the most intriguing episodes of Dante's Divine Comedy is the passion between Paolo and Francesca of Rimini. Scholars still debate the site of their tragic deaths… did the murder take place in Rimini, Santarcangelo or Verucchio? It would seem the adulterous liaison-which lead to the killing of Paolo and Francesca-was consummated in Rimini in the home of the Malatesta family.
