Pedal Power in Palma
MAJORCA
Sunshine and cycling go hand in hand, so it's no surprise that sunny Palma is following other European cities by introducing its own public bike hire scheme. The Spanish city's new cycle system is expected to launch at the end of the year with 336 bikes that can be used by members with a Citizen Card. As with London's recently launched scheme, Palma offers cyclists the first 30 minutes free, with computerised screens at docking stations showing where other bikes and spaces are available. The hi-tech portals even allow users to report problems or bicycle damage to enable more cyclists to have stress-free sun- soaked rides.www.a-palma.es
