GLASGOW

Visionary hotelier Peter Taylor has raised the bar for eco hotels with his new property Blythswood Square. He spent four years refurbishing the former Royal Scottish Automobile Club using the latest in renewable energy technology, reducing carbon emissions by over 43% thanks to rain-water harvesting, solar panels and micro double glazing. Interiors and facilities are luxurious but have that crucial Scottish twist. Chairs, curtains and light fittings have been covered with Harris tweed, all ingredients in the restaurant are seasonal and sourced locally and the spa offers indigenous treatments using Scotch thistle extract and Scottish seaweed.
