Enjoy Your Stay... at Colditz?
Unlikely as it may seem, Colditz Castle, the infamous German POW camp, is making headlines again, having opened its doors as a hotel. For €24 (£22) a night, visitors to the castle can get the ultimate prisoner experience, with basic accommodation within the original German guard quarters and breakfast - porridge, perhaps? - in the inmates' canteen. The castle joins other prisons- turned-hostelries, including the Långholmen in Stockholm and Ljubljana's Hostel Celica, on what must surely be a list of the world's strangest overnight stays. battlefieldtours.co.uk
