Key areas: If you want to work on your tan, head out to Cagliari's small Calamosca beach. It is protected from the winds, making it possible to sunbathe even very early in the year.

Cagliari Trivia

May: "Lost between Europe and Africa," D.H. Lawrence once wrote of Cagliari. And indeed, it is not Rome or Naples but Tunis that is the closest city to Cagliari.
April: To replace that lost to erosion, much of the sand you now find on Poetto beach was pumped up from the sea floor in 2002 at a cost of around �5 million. That's why you find different sand colours on different parts of the beach.
March: Eating horse meat is perfectly normal in Cagliari. You can find it in almost every restaurant and supermarket. Even fast-food street-stands offer horse sandwiches.
