Cagliari Trivia
-
May: "Lost between Europe and Africa," D.H. Lawrence once wrote of Cagliari. And indeed, it is not Rome or Naples but Tunis that is the closest city to Cagliari.
-
April: To replace that lost to erosion, much of the sand you now find on Poetto beach was pumped up from the sea floor in 2002 at a cost of around €5 million. That's why you find different sand colours on different parts of the beach.
-
March: Eating horse meat is perfectly normal in Cagliari. You can find it in almost every restaurant and supermarket. Even fast-food street-stands offer horse sandwiches.
