This Month in Marrakech (March):
By Sara TownsendShopping: Hidden behind an inconspicuous door at 114 Place de Mouassine, Atelier Moro is a treasure trove of one-off pieces of clothing from all over Morocco. You're certain not to see anyone else in your skirt, that's for sure.
Sightseeing: The Maroc Classic Rally runs throughout March, with the final leg reaching its conclusion on the 20th. Head to La Mamounia to try to catch a glimpse of the official prize-giving ceremony and gala.
Key areas: You are sure to end up in Place Jemaa el Fna in the heart of the medina. This lively display of local life truly comes to life as the sun goes down. Expect to find snake charmers, musicians, acrobats and even dentists.
Day trips: If you are looking for something a bit different, D and O Adventures offers cycling trips into the mountains. The company caters to all ages and any length of trek, from a day trip to a two-week venture (dandoadventures.com).

Travel News: La Mamounia
Marrakech
Following a three-year facelift courtesy of internationally renowned interior designer Jacques Garcia, Morocco's most iconic hotel has finally re-opened. The refurbished rooms and suites may have rates that are beyond your budget (they start at an eye-watering €545), but you can get a taste of the jet-set lifestyle of La Mamounia's glitzy clientèle by treating yourself to a meal at one of its three restaurants overseen by Michelin -star chefs. L'Italien by Alfonso Iaccarino (pictured), an intimate and moody space decorated in shades of plum, offers contemporary Italian dishes made from produce grown in the hotel's legendary gardens. Le Francais by Jean-Pierre Vigato has brasserie-style lunches and gourmet dinners and Le Marocain is set in an ornate pavilion and serves local dishes with a modern twist. www.mamounia.com
